Met Gala 2015 "China: Through The Looking Glass"
/This past Monday (May 4, 2015) was the grand Met Gala; it is an event I personally look forward to every year. I really look forward to it because I love to see how actors and designers take the theme and put their own twist on it.
This year’s theme was chosen as China: Through The Looking Glass because of the Costume Institute exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Chinese art and rare artifacts as well as dresses interpreting Chinese designs from Western designers like John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Tom Ford are showcased.
I must say after I heard the theme for this Met Gala I was very curious as to how designers and actors would interpret the theme. I was worried that there would be misinterpretation and it would offend instead of applaud a wonderful culture, since in our media we sometimes still have missenterpretation. This was not the case in this event everyone who attended showed respect and wore gorgeous gowns that were respectful and celebrated fashion and the night’s wonderful theme. Below are some of my favorite looks from the Met Gala.
